The family medicine department is dedicated to ensuring a strong quality-of-life for adults and children and is committed to building healthy families. Our staff places special emphasis on providing primary care for chronic conditions. Any family member may come to the Family Medicine Department to receive care from family practitioners. A few of the primary care services offered, in addition to general physical exams, include:

  • Flu Shots
  • Treatment and counseling for heart disease
  • Diabetes and hypertension management
  • Men’s health concerns
  • Referrals to specialists.

Regular checkups are important for the health and well-being of children. Our Family Medicine Department treats illnesses common to children, provides Health Check screenings and all immunizations for children, and offers sports physicals upon request. Referrals are made from this area to our dentists or other specialists as needed.

Slide Discount Program

Patients without coverage may be eligible for the Slide Fee Discount Program. The number of family members in your household and the amount of your annual income will be assessed. Call us at 252-522-9800 to inquire about what forms of income documentation is accepted.

Pradeep Arumugham
MD

Volunteer: Cardiology
Cardiologist at the Vidant Heart and Vascular Clinic. Dr. Pradeep volunteers his time at the Center on the first Thursday of each month from 1pm-5pm.

Tambetta Ojong
MD

Family Medicine
Dr. Ojong is a board certified Women's Health Physician in Family Medicine. She is of west African heritage and enjoys salsa dancing and a good read. She has had the opportunity to work with the medical unit on ABC network as well as participate in an international medical mission trip to Peru. Professionally her interests include health literacy, preventative medicine and women's health. As a primary care specialist the health and wellbeing of our patients is her primary focus.

Charity Sellers attended East Carolina University, where she obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree in 2011. After graduating, she worked in numerous intensive care units around the country as a staff and travel registered nurse. Caring for people at their sickest fueled her desire to help prevent and manage chronic illnesses through quality primary care; which led her to pursue and complete her Master of Science in Nursing from Simmons University in 2019.

Matthew Brown

Originally from upstate New York, Matthew served in the United States Navy from 1991-1996 as a hospital Corman. Matthew also has a background in public health and epidemiology. He also enjoys seeing patients of all ages. He enjoys health promotion and supporting patients in their wellness goals.

Jessica Turner
Family Nurse Practitioner BC

Family Medicine
Jessica grew up in Lenoir County. After graduating nursing school, she began her career in 2008 as a pediatric ICU nurse taking care of critically ill infants to teenagers. While in the PICU, she was a leader in charge nursing and a unit council member promoting satisfaction in the staff and patients. In 2013, Jessica began practicing as an FNP in family practice and additionally emergency medicine.

Stephanie D. Tyndall, RN FNE

Stephanie is a North Carolina native and currently lives in Deep Run. Stephanie completed her Bachelor of Science (BSN) in 2018 through Brigham Young University Idaho. She completed her Masters of Science (MSN) in Education at Western Governors University. Stephanie is currently enrolled at Maryville University working to obtain her Doctor of Nursing Practice (FNP/DNP) bridge in Family Medicine. She has been nursing since 2008 with a background in Emergency and Community Medicine.
